GLOBAL INTERGENERATIONAL WEEK! DAY TWO: Let’s Build Intergenerational Partnerships. Did you know that Communities that invest in intergenerational initiatives experience a 20% increase in community cohesion and a 15% decrease in crime rates? (Generations United).

That's why LBFE Boston's community partners are SO important in helping us bring older and younger adults together for weekly programs. Just to name a few....

-ASAPs (Aging Services Access Points such as Boston Senior Home Care, Ethos, and Central Boston Elder Services);
-affordable and public housing (like Roslindale House shown here, a Rogerson Communities facility) and the Boston Housing Authority;
-and service learning and civic engagement programs at Boston College and Northeastern University

DAY ONE of GLOBAL INTERGENERATIONAL WEEK #GIW24

What is #intergenerational practice? It's MUCH MORE than bringing younger and older people together. It is a systemic approach to community development and well-being that recognizes and values the contribution of all generations who live there.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO)'s Global Campaign to Combat Ageism, intergenerational activity is a proven way to reduce ageism. And when combatting ageism can help us live up to 7.5 years longer, intergenerational practice is not just nice, it’s ESSENTIAL.
