Volunteers made an impact in May!

Posted on May. 31, 2016

LBFE would like to thank our volunteers who helped us deliver meals and groceries, drove elders to events, led social and educational activities in elder buildings, and visited folks. You made May a great month for elders across the city! Here are a few groups we would like to give a shout out:

GRAND CIRCLE TRAVEL hosted our annual Ladies’ luncheon in Jamaica Plain for 14 elders.

GAY FOR GOOD delivered a week’s worth of fresh produce and groceries to 61 elders in Jamaica Plain and the South End.

ONURI visited and brought flowers to 7 elders in Jamaica Plain with Friendship & Flowers

TUFTS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE  led several rousing (and informative!) rounds of “Dental Jeopardy” at Walnut Community Housing in Roxbury. Residents displayed their wide-ranging knowledge and students shared lots of toothy tips.

NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY’s Center for Community Service students led 14 weekly activities in elder buildings in the Fenway, Downtown, and South End neighborhoods. (Pictured above: Chuyi Wu, Haoying Zhang, Xiaoying Lin and residents at their City Site at 80 Mason Place)

BOSTON COLLEGE PULSE students and acapella group, The Common Tones, led 2 “speed friending” activities in elder buildings in the Fenway and Brighton.

BOSTON UNIVERSITY students delivered Passover meals and visited with 45 elders across the city in honor of Passover.

Want to get involved with your group or just by yourself? It’s easy! Come to an orientation on the second Saturday of each month- and then if you have time, visit and deliver flowers to an elder. Questions? Send a note to Airlie Parham, Project Coordinator at aparham.bos@littlebrothers.org.
