LBFE Orientation On the second Saturday of each month, you are welcome to attend our free orientation. It’s an opportunity to hear about our history, mission, and current programming. See our calendar for more details. All are welcome to join!

Engage:

Submit a design for the LBFE Boston shirt. The winner will receive a LBFE swag bag and social media shout out! Designs are due August 19th. Please contact Daniela Schmitt for the LBFE logo and to submit your design!

Tech Tutoring  LBFE has teamed up with Tech Goes Home to offer a 15 hour technology training to elders in Roslindale. Tech Goes Home strives to ensure that people are equipped with the tools, training, and access to support 21st century skill development. We have opportunities to lead courses in Roslindale and Dorchester.

Support:

Summer Sweepstakes It’s time for the Boston Sweepstakes! This annual fundraiser offers great prizes AND helps generate the money needed to meet the needs of our Old Friends. This year’s prizes include tickets to the Huntington and Blue Man Group, delicious meals at Post 390 and City Table, mini-shopping sprees and Duck Tours.

In other news:

Hallo! We said goodbye to Ruben last month, and hallo to Imke Heering, our new Program Assistant. She recently graduated from high school where she majored in Biology. During her free time, she likes to run, play the piano, meet with friends, and travel. Imke will lead several weekly City Sites, visit with elders, and assist with the planning of our events.

Partnership with the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind This summer, we have the great opportunity to host an intern, Neenah Abajue Umeh, through the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind. Neenah will provide critical insight and support to LBFE’s programs.
